Benton Township Fire Department

The Town of Unionville is located 45 miles SSE of Indianapolis along IN-45 in western Monroe County. Organized in 1978, this all-volunteer department provides Fire, Rescue and BLS non-transport protection to all of Benton Township including the Town of Unionville.

The right side of this firehouse was built in 1979 with the left two bays added in 2002. Larger apparatus required more space and an annex (shown at bottom of this page) was built in back of the station in 2006.

This apparatus originally served Purchase, New York until 1996. It was then purchased from the Eastern VFD (Greene County, IN) in 2002.

The pump and tank were then installed by BTFD where a 2-man bench seat used to be in the back of the rig. This apparatus is due to be replaced in early 2012 with a Rescue Pumper.

Utility 14-8 - 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Command Vehicle
This apparatus serves as the Chief's vehicle, but also includes a 5-bottle cascade system installed by the department.

Station 14 Annex
Eventual plans call for two more bays added onto the Annex with the 2 large bays on the old firehouse being closed in.
