Woodburn Fire Department

Base 160

The Town of Woodburn is located 10 miles east of Fort Wayne along IN-24 in Allen County. This combination paid & volunteer department was formed in 1903 and now includes 40 dedicated members. Woodburn Fire Department provides Fire, Rescue, Hazmat and BLS transport protection to more than 100 square miles and approximately 2,500 residents. Their area includes the Town of Woodburn, all of Maumee & Milan Townships, and portions of Jackson, Jefferson, and Scipio Townships.

Woodburn Base 160 - Maumee Township Fire Station
Located on the east side of downtown, Woodburn's fire station is attached to the municipal building, owned entirely by Maumee Township. This station is now home to Engine’s 162 and 261, Tanker 164, Emergency 165, Rescue 168, Grass 169, Command 160 and the antique engine. The Grass Rig, boat and a insulation vacuum trailer are located in a separate building behind this one

Engine 162 is first out for most incidents at WVFD including fire, rescue and extrication calls. This apparatus was a stock unit purchased in 2006.

Rescue 168 serves as a backup unit that carries a second set of jaws, extra cribbing, hazmat and medical equipment. It seats 5 and provides great scene lighting for nightime incidents. The rescue, brush truck and antique are all housed in the annex behind the station.

Ambulance 165/265- 2011 Ford E450/LifeStar (RM607)/2000 Braun Type III
With the opening of their new Milan station, this apparatus was reassigned as A265 in 2015. However, Woodburn rotates their two frontline ambulances between their stations to limit wear and tear.

Reserve Ambulance - 2000 Ford E450/Road Rescue (#3864) Type III Ambulance
This apparatus was purchased from nearby Huntertown in the summer of 2014. It underwent a light refurb by Robinson Auto Body of New Haven. It now serves as the department's reserve ambulance.
