Base 10 - Headquarters

New Haven is located immediately east of Fort Wayne inside of I-469 in central Allen County. The New Haven FD organized in 1862. However, this combination department was formed in 1990 with the merger of NHFD & Adams Township VFD. NHATFD now provides Fire, Tactical Rescue, Hazmat and ALS protection to 23,000 residents of the Town of New Haven and Adams Township. Their membership now includes 55 volunteer and 14 paid on the fire side, and 10 full/part time and 40 volunteer on the EMS side.

Base 10 - NHAT Central Fire Station - 910 Hartzell Road
Base 10 serves as NHATFD headquarters and is home to Engines 11 & 12, Tanker 14, Emergency 45, Ladder 17, Squad 18, and Fire 11. The current department consolidated in 1990 and they built this firehouse in 1993. The new department combined into one former city and 1 former twp station. Each had 2 stations before consolidation.

Engine 11 serves as the first-due apparatus for accidents and minor alarms, while Ladder 17 responds first-due for structure fires. E-11 is the first-out apparatus with the on-duty crew, while additional volunteer personnel respond with other appropriate vehicles.

This former demo unit was purchased in 2014. It primarily serves as the first-out engine for volunteer members.

Shown here in front of the Central Station, this apparatus was re-assigned as Tanker 14 and now responds from Base 10.




Ladder/Truck 17 - 2005 Pierce Enforcer 75ft Aerial - 2000gpm/500gal
Truck 17 serves as the department's aerial company and is dispatched on all fire runs.

Squad 18 - 1998 Spartan Gladiator/Marion (#58977) walk-in Heavy Rescue
Squad 18 responds as a heavy rescue and support vehicle to all fires, MVA's and larger incidents.

Squad 18's equipment includes a combi-tool, light tower and an on-board cascade system. It carries a wide variety of additionalequipment for rope, water and confined space rescue.

Base 10 is the home to all of NHATFD's EMS vehicles. Three ALS Ambulances (45-1, 45-2, 45-3) respond throughout their area from this central station. These units are supported by Med Car 45 (not pictured), a non-transport ALS chase vehicle. This apparatus was originally mounted on an IHC chassis.
