Sharpsville Volunteer Fire Department

Station 40

The town of Sharpsville is located 46 miles north of Indianapolis, just east of US-31 in northern Tipton County. This all-volunteer department responds from a single station. SVFD provides Fire, Rescue and BLS protection to the Town of Sharpsville and portions of Liberty and Prarie Townships.


Sharpsville Fire Station 40 - 158 W Vine Street
This firehouse is home to all of The Fighting Forty's frontline apparatus at Sharpsville. The front portion of the station was built in 1977, while the rear section was added in 1996.

Engine 42 is second-due for Fire calls. As shown here, it previously served as Engine 41.

Tanker 43 - 2010 IHC 4400/2000 MidStates Tanks/RPI - 500gpm/3000gal
The tank and pump on this rig were remounted from its predecessor by RPI in 2010.

Rescue 45 - 2003 Ford F-550l/RPI Medium walk-around Rescue
This apparatus was built just south of Sharpsville at RPI. RPI builds and refurbishes custom fire apparatus from all over the country from their Headquarters in Tipton County.

Brush 46 - 1964 White 6x6/1974 Progress Tanks/1986 Custom - 500gpm/1200gal
This rig started out as a military semi tractor. It was assembled by the department in 1986 and has been used ever since as a brush and tanker truck.

This ambulance originally served Waldorf MD before its purchase by Sharpsville.
