Kingsbury Volunteer Fire Department

Station 8

The Town of Kingsbury is located south of LaPorte at the crossroads of US-6 and US-35 in southern LaPorte County. Organized in 1960, KVFD includes 25 volunteer members who respond to approximately 300 runs each year. KVFD provides Fire, Rescue and Medical First-Responder protection to 1,000 residents and 36 square miles in Washington Township and the Town of Kingsbury. Their district includes the large Kingsbury Industrial Park, and the also Kingsbury Fish & Wildlife Area.

To help protect the large industrial park in their area, this unique 4x4 truck is equipped with pump and roll capabilities and a Compressed-Air Foam System. E-842 also carries medical equipment and extrication tools.

Engine 844 - 2003 Spartan/Alexis Pumper/Tanker - 1250gpm/1000gal
This unique pumper includes roll-up doors covering it's rear mount pump panels. It also carries a portable dump tank. While roto-rays are common in the East Coast, this is one of the few rigs with them in northern Indiana. This apparatus was purchased from Penn Township FD in St. Joseph County, IN in 2011 where it previously ran as E-2142 and E-2144.

This apparatus previously served Sarasota County, FL as Engine 24. It was purchased in 2008.

Rescue 862 - 1994 Freightliner FL60/Wheeled Coach/2004 FD
This apparatus previously served as an ambulance in Evanston, IL. Purchased in 2004, KVFD members refurbishedthe unit and it now runs on all rescue calls.

Squad 860 - 2004 Dodge Durango - Medical QRV
This apparatus was purchased in 2015 and responds first-out for medical calls.
