Station 13 - Northwest

The City of Bedford is located 89 miles SSW of Indianapolis along IN-37 in central Lawrence County. Shawswick Township surrounds the city with a majority of its area to the east of Bedford. Organized in 1974, this all-volunteer department includes 25 members who respond to 500 runs each year. SVFD provides Fire and Medical First-Responder protection 10,000 residents and 100 square miles of unincorporated Shawswick and Guthrie Townships.


Shawswick Fire Station 13 -1984 Oxford Road - Northwest
Located on the northside of Bedford, this firehouse is home to Engine 13 and Brush 13. It is dedicated to the memory of Bernard D. Bartlett. His determined efforts as a member of the Shawswick Volunteer Firefighters Association were responsible for the construction of this facility and it stands as a monument to his dedication to the fire service and to his community.

Brush 13 - 2008 Ford F550/Warner Bodies/UPF - 250gpm/400gal/5gal foam
This truck responds to both brush and medical calls. It is equipped with a bumper turret and a 15,000lb winch.

Former Squad 13 - 2013 Ford F350/2009 UPF skid unit - 250gpm/250gal
The skid unit on this rig was transferred to the current Squad 14 just after this photo was taken. This truck was then turned into a utility vehicle and reassigned to Station 11.
