Station 4

The City of East Chicago is located just 21 miles southeast of Chicago along Lake Michigan. It includes a mix of residential, commercial and industrial properties. East Chicago is home to Inland Steel, one of the largest steel production facilities in the US. It is also home to one of the largest BP oil refineries in the country. East Chicago's career department includes more than 100 firefighters that respond to Fire, Hazmat and Tactical Rescue and EMS from 4 stations. East Chicago protects more than 35,000 residents over 18 square miles.

East Chicago Fire Station 4 - Kennedy Ave @ 149th Street - Southeast
The 4's protects the city's southeast side. It is home to Engine 2514 and Medic 2562 (provided by Prompt Ambulance service (Superior Ambulance will take over on 10/1/17)).

Beginning in 2007, all new apparatus changed to a black-over-red paint scheme.

Former Truck 2 (2522) - 1994 Pierce Arrow 105' rear-mount Ladder #8128 - 1500gpm/300gal
Truck 2 shared quarters with Engine 4 at their southeast side station. The city's second truck company has since been disbanded.

Former Medic 2561 - 2007 Ford E-450/Horton ALS Ambulance
In 2007, East Chicago's EMS Division merged back together with their Fire Division to provide complete EMS responses. However, the EMS Division has since been disbanded and EMS service is now provided by private ambulance services.
