In early 2005, Fort Wayne received 4 of a planned 12 new American LaFrance Custom apparatus. These went to
Engines 9, 10, 16 and, 17. Three additional apparatus were delivered in late 2005 to Engines 18, 19 and Truck 19..

Station 18 opened in January 2006 in the rapidly growing Aboite Township Area. It is home to Engine 18
and the department's Hazardous Materials Decontamination tractor-trailer. It also serves as an FWPD substation.
