Fort Wayne is Indiana's second largest city and is located 130 miles northeast of Indianapolis along I-69 in Allen County. Fort Wayne Fire provides Fire, Tactical Rescue, Hazardous Materials and BLS response from 18 firehouses throughout the city. The department's 350+ career firefighters protect 251,000 residents and 107 square miles. ALS Ambulance and Paramedic Services are provided by TRAA, a local, private company.

Fort Wayne Fire Department Station 8
Station 8 protects a mostly residential area on the northeast side of Fort Wayne.
Station 8 is home to Engine 8, Hazmat 8 and the Fort Wayne Communications Command Van for FWFD/FWPD.

A second order of American LaFrance Eagles was delivered in October 2006 and went into service in January 2007
to replace the remaining International/Luvernes. New trucks went to Stations 4, 5, 7, 8, 12 and 13.

Hazmat 8 - 1998 Ford E-450/MedTec Custom Command Truck
This rig formerly served as FWFD's Arson Investigation Truck and was affectionately called the "Arsonlance" since it looks
so much like a typical ambulance. However, this truck is custom configured inside with a command desk in the front half of
the box. The back of the rig includes additional hazmat equipment and 16 spare air bottles. The trailer hauls a wide variety
of Hazardous Materials equipment and supplies similar to that carried by Allen County Hazmat 1 at Station 1.

Known affectionately as the "Gun and Knife Club," Station 9 protects the near southeast side of town.

Shown here at FDIC 2005, Engine 9 was one of the first two American LaFrance Pumpers that Fort Wayne received in May of 2005. These new rigs continue the FDNY color-scheme that began with the 2001 Pierce Enforcers.
