Base 170 - Cedar Canyons

NEACFE is a community-based volunteer department that was formed by the merger of Grabill and Cedar Canyons VFD's in 2005. NEACFE provides Fire, Tactical Rescue and EMS response from it's three stations. The department now protects approximately 23,000 residents and 90 square miles in Northeast Allen County.

Base 170 - Tonkle Road - Cedar Canyons
Base 170 serves the western portion of the NEACFE's area.  It is a 7 truck station with a meeting room, offices, kitchen
and rec area. Base 170 is home to Engines 171 and 172, Tanker 174, Emergency 175, Rescue 178 & Grass 179.

Engine 171 - Freightliner FL-80/Pierce Pumper - 1250gpm/1000gal
Engine 171 is the primary pumper and first due apparatus for all structure fires from Base 170

Engine 172 - 1982 Pierce Arrow Pumper - 1500gpm/1000gal

This rig is picture here just before it went into service as Engine 172. This truck formerly served as St. Joseph Twp. E-76
before being sold to nearby Woodburn. When Woodburn got a new truck in 2005, the Township trustee transferred this
township-purchased apparatus to the other department (NEACFE) that protects the township.

Former Engine 172 - 1991 Ford/FMC top-mount Pumper - 1250gpm/1000gal
This rig was recently replaced by the Pierce Engine above.

Rescue 178 - Freightliner FL-80/American Fire & Rescue walk-in Heavy Rescue

Grass 179 - John Deere Gator 6x4 Brush Rig - 150gal
