St. Joseph Township
Fire Department - Base 70

St. Joseph Township is located on the north-central side of Fort Wayne. It is completely surrounded by the city and FWFD stations inside of I-469 in central Allen County. Established in 1954, this combination department now provides Fire, Tactical Rescue, Hazmat and ALS protection to the 23,000 residents and 10 square miles of St. Joseph Township.

Located on the northside of Fort Wayne, this station is home to a whopping 15 pieces of apparatus. The fire station shares
a common building with the Township Assessor's offices.
 
Rescue 78 ds
Rescue 78 - 2001 Pierce Lance Custom Heavy Rescue
R-78 carries various Extrication and Rescue Tools (spreaders, cutters air and hydraulic). A Cascade system was built into the
roof for on-scene SCBA support. In addition, this large rig carries equipment for Ice/Water Rescue, Rope Rescue, RIT, EMS
and Rehab equipment. Rescue 78 is first out on all auto crashes along with the Ambulances.

This sharp truck replaced a 1982 Pierce Medium-Duty Rescue which was then sold to Fremont, Indiana.

E-71 is first-out on most fire calls and also carries a full set of extrication tools to work accident scenes.
