Washington Township
Fire Department

Washington Township is located along the westside of Fort Wayne in Allen County. First established in 1945 this combination department provides Fire, Tactical Rescue and BLS protection to approximately 10,000 residents of the Township.

Rescue 68 responds to all vehicle accidents and extrications. This large truck includes seating for 5 in front and 4 in back and
an integrated cascade system. It also carries a 3000 watt command light tower and equipment for water, ice and trench rescue.

Until this truck was purchased, WTFD responded to brush fires with a 1940's 6x6 Army truck converted to fire use.

Like may departments in Indiana, WTFD realized the convenience and efficiency of having a small cart available
for rapid EMS reponse at large public events, festivals and parades.
