Jeffersonville
Fire Department

"Saving Lives, Property and the Environment 24 hours a day 7 days a week, in a timely manner".

Jeffersonville is located immediately across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky in southern Clark County. Founded in 1871, Jeffersonville is a career department who respond from 4 stations. JFD provides Fire, Heavy Rescue, non-transport EMS and Hazmat protection to approximately 30,000 residents and 30 square miles.

Station 2
Station 2 - East 10th Street - JFD Headquarters
This beautiful and well-planned station was opened in March 2008. It serves as JFD Headquarters with administration offices and
meeting rooms to the right and crew quarters to the left of the four drive-through apparatus bays. This huge station is significantly
larger than their former station and is poised to serve the department for decades to come.

Although it is the largest ladder truck in town, Quint-1 frequently serves as the second-out Engine for rescue and fires
in the downtown area. Quint-1's crew provides extra manpower for extrications and accidents.

"Old 500" -1928 Seagrave

"Old 500" - 1928 Seagrave Pumper
This picture does not begin to do justice to the quality of this classic truck. It was originally purchased but then rejected by a
department in Texas. Old 500 was then sent as a show truck at the 1930 World's Fair in Chicago. Finally, it was purchased in 1937
by the Town of Jeffersonville and used as the town's frontline engine until replaced by two new trucks in 1953. It was completely
refurbished and restored by members of the department in 1984. When Station 2 was built, a special bay was created in the
administration lobby to show off this great apparatus to all visitors.

Special Thanks to Captain Marty Stengel at Station 2 for his assistance in arranging many of these apparatus for photos
and for providing department background and history.
