Jackson Township
Volunteer Fire Department


The City of Brazil is located 60 miles west of Indianapolis along US-36 and I-70 in central Clay County. Organized in 1980, this all-volunteer department includes 18 members that respond to approximately 200 runs each year from their single station. JTVFD provides Fire, Rescue and First Responder Medical protection to 4,500 residents and 36 square miles. They also protect 7 miles of I-70 in a dual response with Posey Township.

This firehouse was built when the department was first organized in 1980. An addition was made in 2000.

This apparatus was purchased from Athens Ambulance (who used to be the County EMS provider) in 2006. It now
serves Jackson Township as a medic/rehab/command post.
