Auburn Fire Department

The City of Auburn is located 18 miles north of Fort Wayne along I-69 and IN-8 in Dekalb County. The City is best known as the birthplace of the Dusenberg and Auburn Automobiles in the 1930's. Auburn's combination department was founded in 1885 and responds to Fire, Tactical Rescue, Hazmat and BLS calls from its 2 stations. AFD protects the City of Auburn and Union Township including 25 square miles and approximately 13,000 residents.

Station 1 - County Road 35 just south of State Road 8
Station 1 protects the more rural north and east sides of Auburn and Union Township. It is home to Engine 22, Engine 23,
Squad 26 and Truck 29.

Tanker 25

Tanker 25 provides water for areas without hydrants and the rural sections of Union Township.

Squad 26

Squad 26 responds as the deparment's Special Operations unit and includes equipment for hazardous materials,
confined space, high-angle and top water rescues.

Truck 29 formerly served FDNY before moving to Auburn as the aerial unit from Station 1 on the city's eastside.

Brush 28, Engine 24 and Truck 27 respond from Station 2 located at 902 S. Grandstaff Ave. This station is also home to
AFD's adminstration offices and training facilities which will be used my numerous departments in NE Indiana. The 2-story
live burn chamber can be seen in the background. The facility also includes a Survive Alive house, a confined space rescue
area, a flashover simulator and multi-evolution building.

E-24 is first out from Station 2 in the city busy industrial and commercial west side. This rig also covers several miles of
I-69 south to the Allen/DeKalb county line.
