Volunteer Fire Department

The Town of Attica is located along the Wabash river 75 miles west of Indianapolis at the crossroads of IN-41 and IN-28 in central Fountain County. The 19 members of this all-volunteer department respond to approximately 335 runs each year from their single station. AFD provides Fire, Rescue and Medical First-Responder protection to approximately 6,000 residents and 68 square miles including the Towns of Attica and Rob Roy and the Townships of Logan, Davie and portions of Shawnee. ALS service is provided by Fountain County EMS located at a base in Attica.

This firehouse is part of the City Hall building with the fire station on one end and the Police Station on the other.

This apparatus is first-out for most smaller incidents at Attica. It carries a electric PowerHawk Extrication tools and serves as the department's brush truck as well.

As shown on the front of this truck, Tower 16 is dedicated to Abe Bell, who served the department for 50 years prior to his
passing in 2008.

This apparatus was jointly funded by the Town of Attica and the Eli Lilly Endowment. It serves as the only Aerial apparatus
within Fountain, Warren and northern Vermillion Counties. T-6 is second-due for structure fires within the city but regularly
assists on mutual-aid calls to area departments.

Squad 14 - 2004 Chevy 2500HD 4x4
This apparatus previously served the City of Attica street department. It now responds with the department's Phoenix hydraulic
extrication tools. Attica is also home to the Indiana Badlands, a 1,000 acre off-road vehicle park that can bring in an additional
2,000 visitors on weekends. Squad 14's light weight can more easily access the rough terrain of the park when drivers get into trouble.

Purchased by Attica in 1992, this apparatus is the first-due for all structure fires and mutual aid calls.

After 30 years of service, this tanker is rarely used by the department. Along with Tanker 15, it will be replaced in the near
future by a new Pumper/Tanker.
