Volunteer Fire Department

Fairmount is located along US-26 in southern Grant County. Fairmount is best known as the hometown of James Dean and Jim Davis, the creator of the popular Garfield comics and cartoons. The Town of Fairmount FD was first organized in 1892, while a separate Township department began in 1951. Now serving as one, this all-volunteer department includes 30 proud members who provide Fire & Rescue protection to more than 3,000 residents and 32 square miles including the Town of Fairmount, and half of Liberty Township.
