Harrison Township
Volunteer Fire Deparment

The historic town of Corydon served as the first state capital of Indiana from 1813 to 1825, before it was moved to Indianapolis.  The Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department has long protected the immediate area surround the town.  Within the last decade, the town dissolved its small fire department and contracted with the more efficient Harrison Township to provide fire protection.  The old Corydon firehouse was closed and the town’s firefighting equipment and personnel were blended into Harrison Township.  The HTVFD operates from a modern station located along Highway 337 just south of I-64 in central Harrison County.
