Township / Avon The Town of Avon is located just 5 miles west of Indianapolis in eastern Hendricks County along US-36. Established in 1964, AFR includes 60 full-time personnel who provide Fire, Rescue, Hazmat and ALS protection to nearly 12,000 residents. The department is governed, financed and run by Washington Township and not the town of Avon.
