Pittsboro is located 25 miles west of Indianapolis in central Hendricks County. First established in 1951, PFD is now a combination department with 6 full-time personnel and 22 reserves that are paid-on-call. This 33 square mile district is mostly rural with some large industry and a population of 7,000 residents.

Engine 111 is the first due apparatus for most incidents at PFD. Since the department does not have an aerial device, an
automatic mutual aid call to Brownsburg goes out whenever a structure fire or tactical rescue occurs.
