New Castle -
Henry County EMS

The City of New Castle is located 55 miles east of Indianapolis in central Henry County. Established in 1944, this department combines full-time and part-time EMS personnel along with full-time FF/EMT's from New Castle. With 5 Medic units responding from a central station, this combination department provides ALS and BLS protection to the City of New Castle and most of Henry County.

In 2007, Henry County EMS moved from sharing New Castle Fire Stations to their own building on I Avenue and Roosevelt. However, the EMS service still use full-time FF/EMT's as drivers to make sure that 2 ALS units are staffed at all times. (built 1987). They do still use FF's as drivers to help man at least 2 units at all times.

Medic 3 is one of two full-time ALS Ambulances that respond to the greater New Castle Area. Medic 3 is staffed by 1 FF/EMT
and 1 Paramedic. A second Medic Unit is staffed by two Paramedics.
