City of Madison Volunteer Fire Companies 1-3 The
City of Madison can be found at the crossroads of US-421 and US-56 along
the Ohio River in Jefferson County. Madison includes a unique setup
of 6 independently contracted volunteer fire companies. For decades,
each fire station and company has had it's own name and specifc color
apparatus.
These companies serve as one to provide
Fire & Rescue protection
to more than 12,500 residents of |

The Fair Play Fire Company #1, located in downtown Madison, is the oldest volunteer fire company in the state. It was established on September 15, 1841 |

Washington Fire Company #2 The Washington Fire Company is located immediately north of downtown one south of King's Daughter Hospital. Built in 1848, this building is the oldest active Firehouse in the state of Indiana. |

| Western Fire Company #3 - Ret. 1963 Seagrave Pumper 1000gpm/300gal This great truck served the WFC #3 from 1963-1979. This was followed by two other Engines including a 1989 Spartan/Darley Pumper and their current 2004 Pierce Dash Engine. |
