North Vernon Volunteer Fire Department North Vernon is located 76 miles South-Southeast of Indianapolis at the crossroads of US-50, IN-7 and IN-3 in Jennings County. North Vernon VFD protects the small town of 6,500 residents and approximately 10 square miles of Center Township. NVVFD's rigs may be the most unique assortment of apparatus in the state!

Built in 1989, Station 1 is located along IN-7 in downtown North Vernon

Engine 1 - 1989 KME Pumper 1250gpm/750gal
Engine 1 is first due for all fire and rescue runs.

Truck 1 - 1996 E-One Hurricane 95' Rear-mount platform - 1500gpm/500gal

Tanker 8 - 1968 Dodge/Conslidated/1984 KME (Refurb) - 600gpm/5000gal tank
This huge truck had a previous life as a fuel truck for the United States Air Force.

Engine 3 - 1971 Chevy/Warner Pumper - 500gpm/1500gal
Engine 3 was originally completed and outfitted by local department members.
It serves as a second-due pumper when manpower is available.

Truck 5 - 1968 Ford/Stahl with 35' Telesquirt-type boom

This apparatus fomerly served in Halesite, NY and still has the markings on the front of the cab.
