Amity Fire/Rescue The small Town of Amity is located 25 miles south of Indianapolis along US-31 in southern Johnson County. Organized in 1973, this all-volunteer department provides Fire, Rescue, Hazmat and BLS protection to 10,000 residents and visitors in a large rural area including 5 miles of Interstate 65 and 7 miles of US-31. |

Completed in 1973, Station 31 is home to all five AVFD apparatus. While their original two trucks were red, the department changed to their current lime green in the 1980's to help get the attention of motorists. A new station is under consideration for 2009. |

| "Mighty Engine 31" - 2003
KME Excel Pumper - 1250gpm/750gal Rescue Engine 31 is the first due engine for fires and extrication calls and also responds for mutual aid. E-31 is equiped with a set of Hurst extrication tools, Water Rescue and basic Rope Rescue gear. The cab-mounted light tower also provides scene lighting for all night-time incidents. |

| Tanker 31 "Big Water" - 1998
Freightliner FL-80/S&S
- 750gpm/3500gal Tanker 31 responds to all fire calls. It is the largest Tanker in Johnson County and was the first in the county with side dumps. Referred to as "Big Water" by department members, TK-31 replaced an old farm truck that was bought in the early 80's. |

| Rescue 31 - 2003
Ford F-450/Fontaine - Walk around Light Rescue Rescue 31 is used for all EMS, PI and Rescue calls. It is serves as the truck company on all fires. R-31's equipment includes a Hurst multi-tool as well as basic Water and Special Rescue tools. |

| Brush 31 "Wild Thang" - 2005
Ford F-350/Wildfire - 100gpm/225gal Brush 31 responds on all trash, brush and field fires. It was the first crew-cab chassis built by Wildfire Inc. This multi-use truck is used for parades, public education and to pull specialty trailers. The truck can be used to respond with additional manpower on major calls in the area and surronding areas. It is equipped with a BLS tech kit and can respond on EMS calls for backup and/or first out if Engine 31 or Rescue 31 are busy or out of service. |
