The City of Bicknell is located 106 miles southwest of Indianapolis in northeastern Knox County. Established in nearly 100 years ago, the department is served by 18 volunteer members. BFD
provides Fire and Rescue protection to approximately
3,300 residents in the City of Bicknell and provides Rescue/Extrication service to all of Vigo Township. EMS Service is provided locally by Southwest
Ambulance Service.

Engine 18 is the first due apparatus for fire calls from Station 18. Located at 1st & Washington Street in Bicknell, this station was completed in 1997, Bicknell's central station is home to 5 fire apparatus and one Knox County EMS unit.

This rig was placed into service in late 2007. It formerly served the City of Vincennes as Snorkel 1 (as shown here).
Knox County EMS 2175 - 2001 Dodge Durango 4x4 Paramedic Response Vehicle Bicknell's Fire Station also houses a Paramedic and Ambulance from Knox Cnty EMS.

This particular ambulance is still lettered for the old Bicknell ambulance service of McClure (the local funeral home). McClure
has since been purchased by St Anthony & Halter Smith of Vincennes to form Knox Cnty EMS.
