Cedar Lake Fire Department

Cedar Lake is located 40 miles southeast of Chicago in southwest Lake County along US-41. Cedar Lake provides BLS, Fire and Rescue protection to more than 15 square miles including the Town of Cedar Lake. Cedar Lake includes 35 volunteer members and a full-time fire chief.

Engine 1211 - 1989 Ford C600/Darley - 1250gpm/750gal
Engine 1 is the first due engine for most local fire calls.

Ladder 1221 - 1996 Pierce Arrow 75' Rear-mount ladder - 2000gpm/250gal
Ladder 1221 runs as the second out apparatus for all structure fires, extrications and mutual aid calls.

Rescue 1231 - 1983 Chevy/Warner Light Rescue
Rescue 1231 is first due for rescue calls and extrications including Cedar Lak's busy section of US-41

Brush 1273 - 2005 Kawasaki Mule 4x4 Grass Rig - HP/150gal tank
This rig responds to brush fires and rescues in difficult to reach locations such as farm fields and rough terrain.

Squad 1251 - 1989 Chevy Subruban
Squad 1251 responds primarily for additional manpower and EMS assist calls.

Unit 1253 - 1998 Hovercraft
This unique unit was donated to the department to assist with ice and top-water rescue. While not stable
enough to transport multiple patients, it can rapidly bring ropes, stokes baskets or inflatable safety equipment
across dangerous ice and water to stranded victims.

Ambulance 1 - Ford E-350/Med-Tec
Ambulance 1 provides secondary BLS Transport to areas around Cedar Lake. ALS and primary transport service is
provided county-wide by several private ambulance services including Prompt and Superior.
