Cedar Lake Fire Department

Cedar Lake is located 40 miles southeast of Chicago in southwest Lake County along US-41. Cedar Lake provides BLS, Fire and Rescue protection to more than 15 square miles including the Town of Cedar Lake. Cedar Lake includes 35 volunteer members and a full-time fire chief.

This unique unit was donated to the department to assist with ice and top-water rescue. While not stable
enough to transport multiple patients, it can rapidly bring ropes, stokes baskets or inflatable safety equipment
across dangerous ice and water to stranded victims.

Ambulance 1 provides secondary BLS Transport to areas around Cedar Lake. ALS and primary transport service is
provided county-wide by several private ambulance services including Prompt and Superior.
