Indiana Fire Trucks: Crown Point Fire Department

	Crown Point Fire-Rescue The city of Crown Point & Center Township are located in central Lake County, 20 miles southeast of Chicago in Northwest Indiana. Crown Point serves as the county seat and was the first town in Indiana to have an electric traffic light. Responding from a single central station, Crown Point and Center Township apparatus combine to protect approximately 38 square miles. Started in 1873, Crown Point Fire-Rescue has a combination of 21 full-time Firefighter/Paramedics, 50 volunteers, and 6 Administrative Chiefs. CPFR provides protection to 32,000+ residents. Crown Point is the fastest growing city in Lake County and in the region.


Rescue 1532 - 1992 Chevrolet C3500/1993 Auto Truck/Reading Rescue 1532 is assigned to the Special Operations Division. This truck carries personnel and equipment and also hauls the one of the three Special Operations Trailers. However, Rescue 1532 originally served as a hose wagon to provide additional 5" supply hose to the engines for structure fires when the city and township's hydrants were further apart.


Dive Rescue 1533 - 1995 Chevy/Utilimaster This apparatus is setup with equipment for Dive, Top-water and Ice Rescue incidents.


Brush 1571 - 1987 Chevy K30/Monroe/Forester Firefighting Unit by Western Fire Equipment - 95gpm/250gal A padded frame on the back allows firefighters to attack a fire while remaining safely on the truck. Brush 1571 also pulls the John Deere Gator rescue unit for rural off-road rescues and limited fire suppression in hard-to-reach areas.

ALS Medic Units 1562, 1563 and 1561 Crown Point provides ALS reponse 24/7 with a paramedic and EMT on board these rigs. Medics 1561 and 1562 are 1998 Freightliner/MedTecs. The blue and white unit in the middle is an older Ford E-350 Ambulance is held is reserve.


Medic 1561 - 1999 Freightliner FL-70/Excellance Type I Ambulance Two new ambulances are being spec'd to replace these twin rigs in late 2008-2009.

Squad 1551 - 2006 Chevy K2500 4x4 - Medical Assist Vehicle Squad 1551 responds with the ambulances to all critical medical calls. This truck is staffed by cross-trained Firefighter/Paramedic. These two personnel can also staff the third ALS ambulance if needed to provide better services to the citizens of Crown Point.
