Engine 1 was originally manufactured as part of a 6 pumper order for the City of Chicago, before being reassigned at the last
minute to fill the needs at East Chicago. Engine 1's twin is at Engine 4. One of the 6 rigs stayed at CFD as Engine 23. The other three went to Baltimore County, Maryland where they were repainted and reassigned as Engines 2, 4 and 6.

East Chicago's leadership is arranged differently from many departments. There is no Lieutenant rank, therefore a Captain
serves as the officer for each Engine Company. A District Chief rides on each of the two Aerial units, thus immediately providing
a chief on scene at all working fires. One of the two Assistant Chiefs or the Chief of the Department may also be dispatched
for larger incidents

Squad 2 - 2002 American LaFrance Metropolitan/Rescue Master Walk-around Medium Rescue

Squad 2 - 2002 American LaFrance Metropolitan/Rescue Master Walk-around Medium Rescue
While it carries some standard rescue equipment, Squad 2 serves primarily as the Hazardous Materials and Special Operations
Unit throughout the city. With all of the heavy industry and busy traffic corridors, this company keeps busier than most.
