East Chicago Fire Department The City of East Chicago is located just 21 miles southeast of Chicago along Lake Michigan. It includes a mix of residential, commercial and industrial properties. East Chicago is home to Inland Steel, one of the largest steel production facilities in the US. It is also home to one of the largest BP oil refineries in the country. East Chicago's career department includes more than 100 firefighters that respond to Fire, Hazmat and Tactical Rescue and EMS from 4 stations. East Chicago protects more than 35,000 residents over 18 square miles. |
