The Town of Highland is located just 25 miles southeast of Chicago in Lake County. Highland's Fire Territory comprises 14 square miles and includes 23,500 residents in a mix of residential, industrial and commercial buildings. First established in 1928, Highland is a volunteer department with 45 paid-on-call firefighters and a full-time chief. Highland responds to Fire, Hazardous Materials, Tactical Rescue, and BLS calls from 2 fire stations.

Rescue 2 - 1996 Pemfab Imperial/Saulsbury Custom Walk-through Heavy Rescue
Rescue 2 is nicknamed "Pappy" for a firefighter that drove this rig and served the department for nearly 50 years.
Rescue 2 responds to extrication calls, structure fires and all tactical rescues. When the department first saw the
planned paint scheme for Rescue 2, it looked to much like a giant bumble bee. Therefore, R2 is one of the only apparatus
to deviate from Highland's traditional black-over-yellow paint scheme.
