The Town of Highland is located just 25 miles southeast of Chicago in Lake County. Highland's Fire Territory comprises 14 square miles and includes 23,500 residents in a mix of residential, industrial and commercial buildings. First established in 1928, Highland is a volunteer department with 45 paid-on-call firefighters and a full-time chief. Highland responds to Fire, Hazardous Materials, Tactical Rescue, and BLS calls from 2 fire stations.

Completed in 1975, this firehouse protects the busy southside of Highland and is home to Engine 5, Truck 1 and Fire 2.
