Merrillville The Town of Merrillville is located 36 miles
southeast of Chicago in central Lake County along US-30. Ross Township
Fire Service, Inc. was formed to unify and consolidate four separate
Volunteer Fire Companies to protect the Town and Township. These four
companies make up the largest fully-volunteer fire department in Indiana.Merrillville VFD provides Fire, Rescue and Hazmat
protection to the Town of Merrillville and all of unincorporated Ross
Township, including 35,000 residents and approximately 38 square miles.

This firehouse Merrillville's current station 2 was built in 1998. is currently home to four frontline apparatus. |

| Truck 2 - 2004
Spartan/2005 Spencer R&K 75' Aerial - 1500gpm/450gal This new version of Truck 2 replaced an aged but reliable Mack/Aerialscope in the summer of 2005. Truck 2 is the first-due apparatus for structure fires within 2's district. It is second due for rescue calls and mutual aid. |

| Grass 2 - 1981 Chevy K-30/2000 Aluma Body/FD Custom Brush Unit This rig previously served as a light rescue truck. When the new rescue arrived, it went to the Special Services company. In 2005 when SS received their Hazmat, the truck was returned the 2's and the chassis was converted to use as a brush truck. |
