Munster Fire Department

The Town of Munster is located 23 miles southeast of Chicago in western Lake County along I-80. Munster provides Fire and Rescue protection to the City of Munster, including 22,000+ residents and approximately 7.5 square miles. 60 volunteer members respond from three fire stations. EMS Service is provided locally by private ambulance services.

Engine 2222 is the second-out Engine Company for Fire & Rescue calls on the city's north side. It will be replaced in
September 2007 with a new Pumper from Custom Fire Apparatus. While it's cab is small, this rig is still a favorite with it's crews.

Engine 3 responds to a building alarm on Calumet Avenue just down the street from Station 2.

Refurbished in 1995, this engine has the pressure necessary to supply the Tower Ladder on larger structure fires.
It was replaced by a new American LaFrance Eagle Pumper in the spring of 2007 and was sold by the department.

Munster has a full time Fire Chief as well as a part time Fire Fighter/Inspector. The department is currently staffed by
60 volunteer members. However, 12 of these members work for the Town of Munster's department of parks and public works,
which allows for a quick response when fire calls come in during the day.
