Schererville Fire Department
Schereville is located 30 miles southeast of Chicago at the crossroads of US-30 and US-41 in central Lake County. St. John provides Fire, Rescue and ALS protection to the
Town of Schereville, including approximately 30,000
residents and 18 square miles. Schereville is a 48-person combination
department with at least four full-time FF/Paramedics on each shift supplemented by
volunteers
and full-time chiefs. |

Station 2 - Cline Avenue at Joliet Street - Schererville FD Headquarters
When Schererville replaced municipal buildings in their downtown area, Station 1 was demolished. Since then Station 2 has
served as SFD Headquarters. A full-time crew of four FF/Paramedics are on duty here 24/7. They respond with the most
appropriate apparatus. Station 2 is home to Tower 1, Engine 4, Brush 1, Ambulances 1 & 2 and the Shift Commander. |

Engine 4 is the first due engine for fires and rescue calls from Station 2. This rig is equipped with heavy
extrication equipment
as well as firefighting gear. |

Shift Commander 8055 - 2007 Chevy Tahoe Police Interceptor
This quick vehicle is decked out with the same engine and suspension package as the Indiana State Police. During each shift,
this vehicle responds from Station 2 with either the SFD Shift Commander or the Captain in charge that day. An identical
vehicle was purchased for the Assistant Chief as a take-home and response vehicle. |
