LaPorte Fire Department

LaPorte is located 75 miles east of Chicago at the intersection of Highways 2, 39 and 35 in LaPorte County. This career department responds from 3 stations located around the city. LFD provides Fire & Rescue protection to nearly 22,000 residents and 12 square miles. ALS service is provided county-wide by LaPorte County EMS and private services.

LaPorte Station 1
LaPorte Fire Station 1 - "The Big House" - 809 W. 18th Street
LFD Station 1 serves as department headquarters and is home to Engines 3, Tower 1, Investigation 7, and a reserve engine.
Ironically, the apparatus in the right two bays were retired almost immediately after this picture was taken in the fall of 2006..

Station 2 - New
New Station 2 - East Shore Court just off of Pine Lake Ave (Hwy 35N)
Completed in Fall 2006, the new Station 2 is home to Engine 2 and the department's boats. As the city's growth moves
northward, this large facility will have room for additional apparatus and personnel.

LFD Station 3 - 311 Boyd Boulevard @ East Lincolnway (Hwy 2 East)
Station 3 has protected the more commercial and industrial eastside of LaPorte since being built in 1966.

Quint 1 - 1997 KME Excel 75ft Telesquirt - 1500gpm/500gal
Q-1 and it's 3-man crew respond from their single-engine house on the city's eastside.
 
Station 2
Former Station 2 -Pine Lake Avenue on the city's Northside
This historic single-bay firehouse was built in 1928 before being decommissioned at the end of 2006. It was home to Engine 4.
 
 
Engine 4
Reserve Engine 4 - 1989 KME Firefox Pumper - 1500gpm/750gal tank
Engine 4 previously served as the first-due apparatus from Station 2 on the city's northside. With the arrival of the new Pierce
Dash Rescue Engine 3 in the fall of 2006, it was moved to reserve status and relocated to Station 1.
