Alexandria is located 46 miles north-northeast of Indianapolis in northern Madison County along IN-9. The department includes 4 full-time fire fighter's each shift who respond to Rescue, Fire and ALS/BLS calls from the central station.

When larger incidents occurs, additional full-time personnel are called in to respond with additional apparatus. Alexandria protects the City of Alexandria and all of Monroe Township, including 6,000 residents and approximately 8 square miles.

Engine 1 is first due for Fire & Rescue calls. It is staffed by 2 personnel and includes extrication equipment.

Engine 3 is the second due apparatus for fires. When a larger incident or working fire occurs, additional off-duty personnel are called in for assistance.
