Fire Department The city of Anderson is located 38 miles NE of Indianapolis along I-69 in southwestern Madison County. Anderson 's 7 stations provide Fire, Rescue and ALS protection to more than 60,000 residents. |

Station
4 - Northside - 621 West Cross Street
The city's newest fire station is home to the 4 man crew of Engine 4 (also the
newest engine)

Rescue
Engine 4 - 2005 Sutphen Shield Series Pumper - 1500gpm/750gal with 5-man cab
The newest apparatus at AFD went into service in August of 2005. This year also
marked the deparment's move
to "Rescue Engines" that carry basic extrication, rescue and BLS Equipment.

Reserve
Engine 4 - 1977 Simon/S&S Pumper - 1250gpm/500gal
This Engine was replaced at Station 4 in August 2005. It is currently housed
at Station 1 and serves as a reserve Engine.

Station
6 - 133 West 29th Street
Since Rescue 2 was disbanded, Station 6 is now a single engine house. Built
in 1945, it is located in South Central Anderson
and protects a mixed district of residential and commercial properties.

Engine
6 - 2000 Pierce Dash Mid-mount Pumper 1500gpm/750gal
This apparatus has a twin at Engine 3.

Former Rescue
2 - 1993 GMC Top-Kick Heavy Rescue/Extrication Unit
Rescue 2 used to respond from Station 6 to incidents on the southside of town.
However, it was disbanded in 2004 as several
of the Engine companies began carrying more rescue and extrication equipment..
This particular apparatus was sold to the nearby town of Daleville.

Engine 7 - 2004
Pierce Enforcer Rescue Pumper - 1250gpm Waterous Pump/750gal/25gal Foam
Engine 7 responds from a single engine house located 2230 East 8th Street
Engine7 protects to the east side of town including the Anderson Municipal Airport
and the Anderson University Campus.

Station 8 - Southside
- 105 West 53rd Street
Station 8 responds to the city's largest district across the southside of Anderson,
including 6 miles of I-69.
Firehouse 8 was built in 1969 and currently serves as the home to Ladder 8 (Quint)and
ALS Medic 2.

Ladder 8 - 2004
Sutphen Imperial SPH 100' Mid-mount platform - 1500gpm/300gal
This apparatus was purchased as a demo at FDIC 2005. It's five-man crew runs
as a Quint with it's own Engine company district.
Ladder 8 also responds to all structure fires on the southside of town.

ALS Medic 2 -2004 Ford E450/Lifestar
Medic 2 currently shares quarters with Engine 8 and responds to ALS and BLS
incidents on the city's south side.

Reserve Ladder
(former E-8) - 1991 Pierce Lance 65' Telesquirt 1500gpm/300gal
After serving for a short time as a reserve ladder, this apparatus was sold to the Town of Syracuse, Indiana in 2005.
