Decatur Township Fire Department Station 74 - Mars Hill

Decatur Township is located in southwest Marion County. DTFD provides Fire, Rescue and EMS Services to approximately 30,000 residents in a thirty-three square mile area. The department is staffed with 64 paid professional firefighters and paramedics.

Station 74 protects the northeastern portion of Decatur Township including the Mars Hill area, a mix of residential,
commercial and rural. Completed in 2003, DTFD's newest firehouse is currently home to two full-time and two reserve apparatus.

Engine 74 - 2009 KME Predator Rescue Pumper (#7439) - 1500gpm/500gal/30gal foam
There was originally an unmanned Station 73 on the far westside of the Township. However, in order to maximize manpower
with their full-time personnel, that station was closed. That area is now comfortably protected by Stations 71 and 72 who
can respond more quickly with their full-time personnel.

This apparatus will switch between ALS "Medic 74" BLS "Ambulance 74" depending on the paramedic personnel available each shift.

Reserve Engine 73 - 2001 Kenworth/Pierce Pumper (#12562) - 1500gpm/750gal
This apparatus previously served as E-772 from 2001-2009. It was reassigned to reserve status after the arrival of the two
KME Predator Pumpers at E-72 and E-74 in August 2009. This rig replaced a 1997 Freightliner/Pierce as the department's
primary reseve engine. It is now kept at Station 74.

This rig originally served as Engine 71 from 1997-2003. It was then reassigned as reserve engine 773 from 2003-2009 before
it was sold by the department that same year. E-73 is shown here pumping water during a live-burn exercise in Fishers at FDIC 2006.
