Station 4 was originally built as a two-bay, single-story station in 1970. In the early 1980's the station was expanded toa third bay
with storage and the current day room and second story were added. While plans for a new station south of their current location
have been debated, there are no definite construction plans at this time.

Since IFD does not run Heavy Rescues, all non-tactical rescues and extrications at IFD are handled by an Extrication Task Forces. These consist of an Engine and one Ladder Company with most equipment located on the Ladder Trucks.
