	Indianapolis Fire Department Retired Rigs Station 1


Engine 1 - 1957 Maxim - 1000gpm/300gal Engine Company 1 had a 1957 Maxim (#2122) from 12-26-57 to 1979. It was sold sometime after that. The shop records show it having a 100 gallon water tank. It was originally purchased for $23,589.32. Photo by Bruce Neal


Ladder 1 - 1963 Maxim S 100' Mid-mount Ladder - IFD #2199, Maxim #2357 This rig was originally delivered on June 19, 1963 as Aerial 7. On May 14, 1969 it was reassigned as Aerial 1. On January 18, 1982 it moved to the 15's. In 1987 it went to it's final home at the 18's and then went into reserve in Febuary or March of 1990. It's original price was $45,995.96 and was sold by sealed bid on 5-15-1991 for $3,277.77. 1978 Photo by Duane Troxel

Rescue 1 - 1986 GMC/Indiana Fire Apparatus - Rescue Squad At one time, IFD had 4 of these units in service and assigned to Rescue 1, 2, 19 and 33's. Rescue 7, 14, and 29 had GMC/Indiana Fire Apparatus Medium Duty Rescues on larger chassis. This Rescue 1 entered service on 1-17-86 and was moved to reserve status on 8-16-93. It was gone from IFD's reserve roster by 1998 Photo by Steve Hagy.


Former Engine 1 - 1994 Pierce Lance Custom Pumper (#E8500-03) - 1500gpm/500gal/40gal foam This rig served at the 1's from 1994 through 2009. It was retired from service after an engine failure in June 2009.


Former Engine 1 - 1994 Pierce Lance Custom Pumper (#E8500-03) - 1500gpm/500gal/40gal foam Engine 1 is shown prior to a department repaint in 2006. Prior to 2006, most of IFD's fleet had large steel numbers displayed on their grill. After concerns over warranty compliance, these numbers were removed so that they would not restrict additional airflow to the engine.

Former Tactical 1 - 1981 International After 24 years of service, this well-worn apparatus was replaced in March of 2005 with a Ferrara Custom Rescue.
