1986 GMC/Indiana Fire Apparatus
- Rescue Squad
At one time, IFD had 4 of these units in service and assigned to Rescue 1, 2, 19 and 33's. Rescue 7, 14, and 29 had GMC/Indiana Fire Apparatus Medium Duty Rescues on larger chassis. This Rescue 1 entered service on 1-17-86 and was moved to reserve status on 8-16-93. It was gone from IFD's reserve roster by 1998

| Engine 2 - 1961 Maxim S - 1000gpm/300gal #2303
This rig entered service as Engine 26 on December 28, 1961. It was reassigned to Engine 34 on March 11, 1969. It started it's time at the 2's in 1975
before being reassigned to reserve in 1981. This truck originally had a gasoline engine, but at some point the IFD shop replaced
that with a diesel engine. The rig was bought by G. W. Pierce at an auction held on October 10, 1990. Pierce allegedly cut out the diesel engine and put the rest of the rig in their junkyard.

Rescue 2 - 1962 GMC/IFD Custom
This unique truck was the only one of it's kind at IFD. Rescue 2 started its life as Hose Tender 12 (delivered on 11-16-1962). According to the shop records, IFD bought six GMC cabs and chassis and built them into hose tenders. There were three 1962's and two 1963's..is one of the GMC hose tenders, modified by the shops into a rescue. I show the one pictured to be a 1963 that went in service at the 12's on 11-16-1962. Unfortunately, we have no further information on when it was made into a rescue or when it went into reserve.

Hose Tender 2 - 1962 GMC/IFD Custom
Four of these apparatus were custom built by the IFD Repair Shops personnel. This unit began service at Station 4 before moving to
Station 11 and eventually to Station 2. Its career ended in 1991 after logging 6,170 miles. A hose tender's primary purpose was to
supply extra 2 1/2" hose for additional water volume at large fire scenes. As 5" hose came into service, it's ability to carry water
comparable to three or four 2-1/2" lines made this unit obsolete. This rig is now owned, maintained and shown at shows by retired
IFD Firefighter and Shops employee Clyde Pfisterer.

Reserve Truck 3 - 1947 Buffalo - City Service Truck #A-2645
Retired behind the IFD Shops in 1978, this truck was one of only a few Buffalo apparatus located in Indiana. Purchased
for $14,600.00, this truck began
service at the 7's on 1-13-1948. It then was reassigned as Truck 1 on 2-29,1952 and then to
the 31's on 7-12-1955. On 7-8-1969 this rig moved from Truck 31 to reserve status. The IFD shops likely ground or sanded off the "1" which was behind the "3" on the door which turned it into reserve truck #3.
