Serving Indianapolis and Marion County since 1887 Wishard's Ambulance Service is one of the oldest hospital-based ambulance services in the nation. Its fleet of 22 paramedic ambulances respond to more than 60,000 calls each year. Wishard Medic Units are primarily numbered to correspond to the IFD Station in their response area. Several stations even house the Medic units in between runs.
Medic 1 - Ford E-450/Excellance
Medic 1 is shown here at home in front of Wishard Hospital's Trauma Center. Most of the Wishard Medics have specific
response districts in central Marion County. They most frequently take patients to either Wishard Hospital or Clarian Methodist
Hospital which are the city's two Level I trauma centers. Wishard Hospital also serves as the County Hospital.

Reserve Medic 2 - Ford E-450/Excellance (former Medic 11)
While we have tried to keep up with recent photos of Wishard Medics, the units are constantly moved around and re-numbered.
With re-boxing of various apparatus, you may also see the same Indiana EMS numbers on various rigs throughout our pages.
