Public Safety Technology

The program is housed at Ivy Tech-Central Indiana's Public Safety building on its Lawrence campus. Their apparatus garage is right next door to Lawrence Fire Station 4. This state-of-the-art facility includes a training tower, simulation cities, a fire apparatus sprinkler system lab, pump simulators, confined space rescue facilities and a Haz-Mat lab. All of these are utilized to best prepare students in the field of public safety.

The two pumpers above were donated to the school for training purposes. The aerial was purchased from the City of
Lawrence. All of the rigs were then refurbished at RPI in Tipton before being repainted and put into educational service. Ivy Tech
keeps three fully equipped and functional rigs along with additional sets of turnout gear, SCBA's and other personal equipment.

Shortly after this picture was taken, this rig was moved north to the J. Everett Light Career Center in Washington Township.
The move will give the students there additional access to fire apparatus.
