Perry Township's four stations
protect a 45 square mile area of southern Marion county. Perry Township's
protects approximately 92,000 residents. ALS ambulance service is contracted
out to
Rural Metro.

Station 62 - 7447 South Meridian Street
The 62's is currently home to Rescue Engine 62 and Medic 662.
In addition to fire runs, Engine 662 responds to ALS/BLS and extrication calls in the south central part of the township.
Engine 662 includes a light tower on top of the cab and extrication equipment amongst its many tools.
E-62 was the first Pierce Velocity to enter service in Marion County. This rig replaced the American LaFrance Pumper below.
Several of the departments on the southside of Indianapolis (including Johnson County) utilize Rural/Metro as their ALS/BLS
Transport service. Perry Township has three rigs stationed at 62's, 63's and 64's for dedicated response within their district.
While Station 62 will merge with the Indianapolis Fire Department on August 1, 2009, Rural Metro will continue to provide
EMS service for the areas of Perry Township protected by IFD through at least 2010 under their current contract.

Because it was setup too differently from the rest of the apparatus at PTFD, Engine 662 was sold by the deparmtent in May 2008

Squad 662 is pictured here on-scene at a
University of Indianapolis EMS call. Squad 662 previously responded to all medical emergencies and accidents in 62's
district.
In 2008 Squad 662 was sold to the City of Lawrence, Indiana and now runs
there as Squad 40.
