Wayne Township Fire Department
Station 82

Wayne Township Fire Department provides Fire, Rescue, Hazardous Material and ALS Ambulance protection to a large area of western Marion County. WTFD's response area surrounds the Indianapolis International Airport and includes a wide mix of industrial, commercial, residential and several miles of Interstates I-70 and I-465.

This engine replaced the Luverne Engine below in April 2006. From its central location,
Engine 882 is the busiest apparatus in the department.

Engine 882 was purchased as a demo after it served at the Daytona International Speedway for the Daytona 500 in 2006.

This rig was sent to be refurbed after the new Pierce arrived in April 2006. It was brought back as Engine 883 later that year.

Ladder 82 will be retired to reserve status in the winter of 2008. It will be replaced by former Aerial 881 as shown below.

With the arrival of their new Seagrave, the 81's were changed from a Quint/Aerial Company to an Engine Company in early
2008. This rig was then reassigned as Ladder 82, responding from Station 82.

This rig replaced the old Rescue 42 as the department's heavy rescue unit. It was retired from active service in May 2006 with
it's equipment being transferred between Ladder 882 and TSU 883. It was used for some time a reserve apparatus for out of servcie ladder companies, including those at other Township departments. It is scheduled to return to frontline service in 2008.
