Ellettsville Fire Department
Station 8

Elletsville is located 51 miles south southwest of Indianapolis along IN-46 in western Monroe County. First established in 1888, Ellettsville's combination department now provides, Fire, Rescue and BLS protection to 19,000 residents with a mix of rural, residential and heavy industry. Ellettsville's unique light blue with blue stripe coloring is unlike anything else in Indiana.

Ellettsville provides quick BLS response with a EMS Squad located at each station. In addition, a Bloomington Hospital
Ambulance responds from Station 7 to provide ALS/BLS Transport throughout EFD's district. This particular truck was
purchased from the Indiana DNR, but has since been replaced with a 2007 Ford Explorer identical to Squad 7.

Snorkel 89 was one of the few remaining snorkels in active service in Indiana. This apparatus formerly served at
Bloomington's Station 3 and protected the IU Campus. This old American LaFrance is truly a classic and was sold in 2006
to a collector in Kentucky. It was replaced by a new Tower 79 rear-mount aerial in the spring of 2007.
