Located 28 miles southwest of Indianapolis along IN-37, Washington Township surrounds the east and southside of Martinsville. This combination department was first organized in 1976 and now respond to 300 runs each year. WTFD provides Fire, Rescue and Medical First Responder protection to 6,600 residents and 65 square miles. Their district includes a mix of rural, residential and a growing commercial area.
Morgan County Station 13 - State Rd. 44 just east of IN-37
Completed in 1977, this firehouse is home to 5 frontline apparatus while an Annex built in 2006 is home to two more.
Engine 132 - 2008 Freightliner/2009 KME Pumper/Tanker (#7354) - 1000gpm/2000gal /50A Foam
This apparatus includes a CAFS FoamPro system, a 10kw hydraulic generator and Hurst Tools as backup to Rescue 13.
Rescue 13 - 1996 GMC TopKick/US Tanks 4x4 Rescue Pumper - 500gpm/500gal/50gal foam R-13 responds to all vehicle accidents. It carries a set of Hurst extrication tools, 30 gallons of ColdFire and additional HazMat equipment. This rig had a Marmington Harrington 4X4 conversion to allow it to go offroad in this rural district.
Former Engine 2 - 1984 E-One Hurricane Pumper/Tanker - 1000gpm/1000gal
This apparatus was donated to nearby A&A Township in Eminence, Indiana.
