Burns Harbor
Volunteer Fire Department

The Town of Burns Harbor is located 45 miles east of Chicago along I-94 in Porter County. Established in 1967, this all-volunteer department now includes 23 members, 12 of whom are rescue divers. BHVFD provides Fire, Rescue & BLS protection to a mixed district of residential, commercial and industrial, over 5.5 square miles.

In February 2008, Burns Harbor placed this rig into service as their first Aerial device. It is now first due for all structure fires
within their response area.

This apparatus served as a E-One demo unit before it was re-striped and setup for BHVFD. It was the first E-One apparatus sold by Fire Services, Inc. of St. John, Indiana after their switch from American LaFrance to E-One.

3312 is first out for all MVA's and extrications and second out for all fires. This apparatus carries 3 Hurst extrication tools,
a 2 man spreader, a Maverick combination tool, an extractor cutting tool, and air bags. 3312 also serves as the first-due
mutual-aid pumper for incidents at the nearby Mittal industrial plant.

Tanker 3341 was used more frequently before the town had fire hydrants. It still makes mutual aid runs
and provides water to rural sections of the town as well as stretches of I-94.

3330 is the first-due for all Medical calls at BVFD. It is certified non-transport BLS and also carries various support equipment.
This rig was donated by Porter Memorial Hospital's EMS division when they received 3 new rigs.

Engine 3311 was first out for all fires and Hazardous Materials incidents.
It carries a MSA Thermal Imaging Camera, hurst extrication combination tool
