Volunteer Fire Department

The Town of Kouts is is located 60 miles southeast of Chicago along IN-8 & SR 49 in southern Porter County. Organized in 1921, the 28 members of this all-volunteer department provide Fire, Rescue and BLS non-transport protection to 3,759 residents living in an area of 54 square miles including the Town of Kouts and Pleasant Township.

Squad 731 is first out on all medical calls and second for car accidents. It carries a combi-tool, cribbing, rams, a cascade
system, a 5000 watt generator, an AED and various medical supplies.
