Volunteer Fire Department
Liberty
Township is located 42 miles east of Chicago in Porter County between
Chesterton and Valparaiso. Established in 1955, this all-volunteer
department includes 36 members. LTVFD provides Fire, Rescue and BLS protection to 11,300 residents and 39 square miles. Their largely rural district includes Liberty Township
and half of Jackson Township under contract. The department also
runs automatic aid with South Haven FD, Westville VFD, and Washington
Township VFD. Liberty Township responds with 6 apparatus from a
single station located at
47 West 900 North in Chesterton. |

Engine 1911 - 2003 HME-Ahrens

E-1911 is the first out pumper for structure and vehicle fires. 1911's equipment
includes a 10 KW Hydraulic Generator,
Light Tower, an electric Ladder Rack, multiple saws & fans, a Thermal Imaging
Camera and 2000 feet of 5 inch hose. |

Squad 1951 - 2002 Ford
F-550/MedTec 4x4 Light Rescue
Squad 1951 serves as the department's rescue vehicle and includes Holmatro Portable
Extrication Equipment, a light tower,
various meters & multi-gas detectors, water rescue equipment, camera equipment,
spill containment equipment. It also responds first-due on all medical assist calls and carries and AED. |

Squad 1933 - 1995 Suburban
Squad 1933 is used more as a utilty/manpower vehicle now that 1951 has taken over roles as first out on medical calls. It is still equipped with various medical supplies and an AED. |
